Canopy is a coming-of-age/romantic comedy that takes place in Atlanta during the Black Arts renaissance of the 90s and the first decade of the new millennium.

Loosely based on the screenwriter’s life, it tells the story of a man who has lived a fairytale – a storybook upbringing, a soul-mate marriage, a successful career and family – and what then happens when he puts it all on the line to pursue his dream of becoming an artist.  Will it ruin his happy marriage?  Will his family understand?  Can he find a balance between the two or does one dream have to destroy the other?

Canopy, a post-modern narrative feature, blends powerful music with quirky humor and engaging dialog, all while exploring whether this generation of “Talented Tenthers” has permission to pursue their dreams.
